The Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education & Research, Chennai, issued Notification No.013/SCS1(1)/2026 on August 4, 2026. Candidates have been deemed ineligible due to:

• Insufficient or lack of supporting documents
• Other reasons as per the submitted application

As per the latest notification on the MCC's admission and eCounselling portal, the schedule for undergraduate medical counselling is yet to be released. The committee has urged all aspirants to check the official website periodically for notifications, announcements, and timely updates regarding the counselling process.

No specific dates have been announced yet. Candidates are advised to stay tuned to the official MCC portal for the confirmed schedule and further details.

The Directorate of Medical Education & Research, Chennai, issued Notification No.009/SCS1(1)/2026 on July 25, 2026, responding to student representations. This is a one-time measure — applications already submitted cannot be edited under any circumstances, as scrutiny is already underway for earlier submissions.

Candidates who've already applied with minor clerical/typographical errors need not worry — such mistakes will be considered and verified during document scrutiny. No further extensions will be granted, and any applications/documents received after the July 27 deadline will not be accepted. All submissions must be completed via the official portal at tnmedicalselection.org well before the cut-off time.

In a significant move to streamline the application process, the Selection Committee has clarified that candidates are exempted from uploading their NEET 2026 scorecards. The committee will directly source the scores from the data provided by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). This step aims to reduce errors and discrepancies in the admission process.

With NEET results declared on July 16, the application window will remain open for one more week. However, the Selection Committee has confirmed that no further extension will be granted due to the need for scrutiny, publication of ineligible candidate lists, grievance redressal, and the expected tight timelines for UG medical counselling by DGHS. Candidates are strongly advised to submit their applications well before the deadline to avoid last-minute issues.

The delay traces back to the original NEET UG 2026 exam being cancelled and re-conducted, which pushed the entire results-to-counselling chain later than usual. In a typical year, AIQ Round 1 registration opens within days of results; this year the gap is closer to a month. Expect Round 1 allotment in late July, Rounds 2/3 through August–September, and the Stray Vacancy round around October — all still provisional until MCC's official notification. If you're also considering an abroad option as a backup, most of our partner universities' intakes run later in the year anyway, so this delay doesn't meaningfully shrink your options there.

This isn't normal year-to-year variance — it's a structural shift because the Re-NEET was a genuinely different exam (different paper, different difficulty curve, different candidate pool of 22+ lakh) than the original cancelled attempt or last year's NEET. The practical takeaway: if you're using last year's cutoff lists or a friend's "I got X marks and got into Y college last year" story to gauge your chances, you're working with the wrong reference point. Wait for MCC's actual round-wise closing ranks once counselling starts, and treat any pre-counselling prediction — including tools that claim to predict your college — with real caution this year specifically.

This is the first time in recent years NTA has had to fully re-conduct NEET UG at this scale, and it has knock-on effects beyond just the exam date: a compressed timeline between result and counselling, a counselling schedule pushed roughly two months later than usual, and a genuinely different score distribution (see our "Marks vs Rank" update) that makes historical comparisons unreliable this cycle. If you were counting on a particular score or rank being "safe" based on past years, it's worth re-checking that assumption against this year's actual numbers once MCC publishes round-wise data.

The Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education & Research, Tamil Nadu, has released the prospectus covering admission to Government Dental Colleges, Government seats in Self-Financing colleges, and Management & NRI quota seats. Eligibility requires the qualifying percentile in NEET MDS-2026 (50th percentile for General category, 40th for reserved categories). All applications must be submitted online only, with all required documents uploaded alongside the form — incomplete uploads are a common rejection reason, so read the prospectus carefully before starting. Counselling runs across four rounds (Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up, and Stray Round), with exact dates to be notified separately. A separate prospectus applies specifically to Management & NRI quota seats in Self-Financing Dental Colleges, with its own eligibility and document requirements for NRI candidates.

Per CHED's May 2025 letter, compliance requires: the mandatory subjects specified in NMC's November 2021 notification, fully English-medium instruction, a 12-month internship at the same institution/hospital, and a Certificate of Registrability. The Philippine House of Representatives separately passed Resolution No. 73 in March 2026 endorsing the same compliance. One nuance worth knowing: practicing within the Philippines itself still requires passing the local Physician Licensure Examination, and only if India extends equivalent reciprocity to Filipino graduates — that reciprocity guidance is still awaited. This does not affect graduates planning to practice in India, the US, UK, Canada, Australia or several other countries, which follow their own separate licensing processes. Always verify NMC compliance for your specific chosen university before enrolling, since this advisory covers CHED-recognised institutions generally, not every individual college automatically.
